A randomized, double-blind study compared the use of echinacea against the use of oseltamivir in 473 patients with virologically confirmed influenza. Echinacea was found to be equally as effective in early treatment, with less complications and adverse effects. (Karel Rauš, Curr Ther Res Clin Exp. 2015 Dec; 77: 66–72)
Some research has suggested that echinacea may be effective in treating anxiety. Serious interactions have been reported in patients who are taking inhaled beclomethasone and echinacea.

Ginseng: Some evidence suggests that it may be effective in improving cognitive function, diabetes, erectile dysfunction, and premature ejaculation. (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK536964).
Its use in patients with bleeding disorders is not recommended. Because it directly increases warfarin clearance, coadministration is contraindicated.
Ginger acts as a potent antioxidant in vitro and ex vivo, but the data are not obvious for in vivo application. Ginger appears to exert anti-inflammatory effects
The most common use of ginger is to alleviate the vomiting and nausea associated with pregnancy, chemotherapy, and some types of surgery. No reports indicate that ginger has any adverse side effects.
Interest in ginger as an anticancer agent has markedly increased over the last few years and a direct protein target has been identified in colon cancer. Ginger also appears to reduce cholesterol and improve lipid metabolism, thereby helping to decrease the risk of cardiovascular disease and diabetes.
